Geoffrey D. Summers
Geoffrey D. Summers specializes in the archaeology of the Ancient Near East, and particularly Anatolia. He is especially interested in landscape archaeology and in the development of pre-Hellenistic urbanism. Geoffrey was director of the Kerkenes project (1993 to 2012), about which he has recently published two volumes of final excavation reports. He received his B.A. and Ph.D. from the University of Manchester, England. He was assistant director of the British Institute at Ankara before taking up a teaching position at the Middle East Technical University at Ankara. Now retired to Mauritius, he is working on the final publication of Charles Burney’s excavation at Yanik Tepe in NW Iran and Todd’s survey of Central Anatolia, in addition to involvement with the study and preservation of Mauritian heritage.
