Apostolos Sarris

Apostolos Sarris holds a Ph.D. in physics/geophysics from the University of Nebraska–Lincoln (1992). He is research director and deputy director of the Institute for Mediterranean Studies–Foundation for Research & Technology Hellas (IMS-FORTH) and head of the GeoSat ReSeArch Lab (Lab of Geophysical Satellite Remote Sensing & Archaeo-environment, IMS-FORTH). He is also a contracted lecturer of the University of Thessaloniki and a research associate of the Field Museum of Natural History in Chicago, United States. He is currently president of Computer Applications and Quantitative Methods in Archaeology–Greece (CAA-GR) and a member of Union Internationale des Sciences Préhistoriques et Protohistoriques (UISPP) Commission IV. He has organized, planned, and participated in more than 200 geophysical/satellite remote sensing and GIS projects in Greece, the United States, Cyprus, Hungary, Albania, Italy, Turkey, and Egypt and has participated in more than 80 Greek and international large-scale projects.
