Sarah Madole is a sarcophagus specialist and an assistant professor of art history at the City University of New York–Borough of Manhattan Community College. She received her Ph.D. from the Institute of Fine Arts, New York University. Her fieldwork in Greece, Italy, and Turkey has invested her research with a peri-Mediterranean perspective and a special interest in regional contexts. She spent three seasons at Aphrodisias working on the sarcophagus corpus (2005–2007). More recently Madole has been investigating sarcophagi with catacomb contexts in Rome under the auspices of the International Catacomb Society as a Shohet Scholar.
