Danilo Marco Campanaro

Danilo Marco Campanaro is a researcher at the Department of Archaeology and Ancient History at Lund University in Sweden. He is a member of the Digital Archaeology Laboratory (DARK Lab) and the Swedish Pompeii Project at the same department. Campanaro’s primary research concerns the investigation of ancient space and perception through the integration of digital methodologies. In 2023, he successfully defended his doctoral thesis in Classical Archaeology, entitled “Illumination matters: Revisiting the Roman house in a new light.” In this thesis, he conducted a comprehensive analysis of archaeological evidence and utilized historically accurate lighting simulations in conjunction with VR-based eye-tracking, investigating the intricate interplay between lighting conditions and social dynamics.
